The Landscape & Writing Reading Group was founded in 2012 in order to provide a forum for staff and students with a shared interest in literary geography and the study of space, place and landscape. The group is run jointly by the Spatial Humanities Project and the Department of English & Creative Writing at Lancaster University.
Readings for each term are selected on the basis of a common theme. Lent term 2013 will be devoted to theme Common Lands and Contested Places, and will thus find us discussing the writings of Thomas Hardy and Alasdair Maclean, amongst others. During summer 2014 we will be exploring mountain landscapes and legacies of mountaineering.
Group meetings are open to all who wish to attend. Please contact us if you would like to join our mailing list and to receive announcements about our upcoming events.
